Ways you can help us

FCCS is a ministry blessed by God. The administrator, teachers and staff  genuinely care for the students who attend here.  We appreciate the support that we've received from parents, grandparents, friends and alumni of  the school.  If you would like to help us in continuing to provide quality Christian education, making it affordable and accessible for all, then please see the WAYS TO GIVE for those opportunities. We are truly thankful for our blessings and we pray blessings upon those who are a part of Foothills.

WAYS TO GIVE

Gifts of Stock or Appreciated Assets

Gifts of appreciated securities offer ways to maximize the value of your charitable giving.  If you have stock that you have owned for more than one year and it has appreciated since you purchased it, you can save on the capital gains tax you would owe from selling it first and then donating the money.  By donating the stock directly to Foothills Community Christian School, a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, you may be entitled to an income tax deduction for the full current market value of your gift and pay no capital gains taxes.  Saves on Taxes!

Charitable Giving Through Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) (Pension Protection Act)

The extension of the Pension Protection Act was signed into law on October 3, 2008, extending the IRA Charitable Rollover provision originally passed in 2006. This is good news for those age 70 ½ or older with individual retirement accounts, as it allows donors to make gifts using IRA funds without tax complications.

This is especially helpful if you are required to receive minimum distributions from your IRA and you do not need the money for personal use. Although you cannot claim a charitable deduction for IRA gifts, you will not pay income tax on the amount in most cases.

Other requirements:

Contact your IRA administrator or tax professional if you are considering a gift through your IRA, or call Foothills with any questions: (406) 452-5276.  But hurry – this extension expires December 31, 2009! Saves on Taxes!

Take Advantage of the Montana Tax Credit

Under current Montana tax laws, Montana taxpayers are eligible to make substantial donations to qualified endowments and receive significant tax benefits.  These tax benefits substantially lower the cost of charitable giving.  To qualify, individuals must use one of several planned giving methods, while business corporations, partnerships and LLCs can give outright gifts which may qualify. The law permits a tax credit of 40% for individuals, and 20% for qualifying business contributions.  If you are thinking of taking advantage of the tax credit for the 2009 tax year, now is the time to act!   Saves on Taxes!

Your tax advisor can help answer questions on any of the above giving options or, call Becky Nelson, at (406) 452-5276, for further information.

Pray

Many people pray regularly for Foothills and its mission in small groups or individually .  We believe strongly in the power of prayer and the way it fosters Foothills mission to equip and train adventurous Christ followers.

Recruit!

Dollars for advertising and marketing are scarce.  In order for Foothills to increase its enrollment and maintain its established tradition of excellence, all hands must be on deck.  Your kind words of praise and support help us keep advertising costs down.  The Foothills story is a powerful one and no one knows Foothills better than our parents and alumni!
